I'll be more up to doing this for more individual episodes if I can figure out how to do content-aware fill on the corners quickly and automatically instead of manually like in this example below. The shots where the 16:9 pan-and-scan shots are infuriatingly annoying to reframe due to it requiring frame-by-frame work. This most likely won't ever end up as an actual release done by anyone or any group due to the amount of effort it takes. The overall increase in viewable footage is actually only around 5.6% but it's pretty cool imo with the increase in AR from 4:3 to 4.28:3. What I did in this episode is I took the 16:9 German BD and reframed it underneath the 4:3 US BD to extend the frame on the left and right hand side of the screen. These can actually be overlayed to create a larger frame pretty flawlessly if you have the patience and boredom required to do it.
